1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Play Pedagogy Award (PPA) platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the platform. Your continued use of the platform following any changes to these terms constitutes acceptance of those changes.

2. Description of Service

The Play Pedagogy Award platform is operated by Play Scotland. It provides Scottish schools with access to play pedagogy resources, community discussion features, an AI assistant (Gargi), and award tracking tools. The platform supports a flexible framework designed to help schools embed play-based approaches across their learning environments.

3. Eligibility

The platform is intended for school staff based in Scotland. Schools and educators elsewhere in the United Kingdom who are interested in play pedagogy may also register. By creating an account, you confirm that you are a member of staff at an eligible educational institution.

4. Account Responsibilities

When you create an account on the platform, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and keep your account details up to date.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of your password and not share your login credentials with others.
  • Use only one account per person. Creating multiple accounts is not permitted.
  • Notify us promptly if you become aware of any unauthorised use of your account.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the platform in a responsible and professional manner. When participating in discussions or using any interactive features, you must not:

  • Harass, bully, intimidate, or abuse other users.
  • Post spam, unsolicited advertising, or promotional material.
  • Share inappropriate, offensive, or unlawful content.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other accounts or platform systems.
  • Use the platform for any purpose that is illegal or not authorised by these terms.

6. Intellectual Property

All resources, materials, and content provided through the Play Pedagogy Award platform are the intellectual property of Play Scotland or its licensors. These resources are made available solely for use by registered schools in connection with the award programme. You may not reproduce, redistribute, sell, or otherwise make available any platform content to third parties without prior written consent from Play Scotland.

7. AI Chatbot Disclaimer

The platform includes an AI assistant called Gargi, which is designed to provide general guidance and information about play pedagogy. Please be aware of the following:

  • Gargi's responses are generated using third-party AI technology (Groq) and may not always be accurate, complete, or up to date.
  • Gargi does not provide professional, legal, medical, or specialist advice. Its responses should not be treated as a substitute for qualified professional guidance.
  • Play Scotland does not guarantee the accuracy of any information provided by the AI assistant and accepts no liability for decisions made based on its output.

8. Privacy

Your use of the platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal data. Please review the Privacy Policy for full details.

9. Limitation of Liability

The Play Pedagogy Award platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Play Scotland excludes all warranties, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Play Scotland shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or profits arising from your use of the platform.

10. Termination

The Play Pedagogy Award team reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if you breach these Terms of Service. We may also restrict access to certain features or the entire platform at our discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the platform ceases immediately, though provisions of these terms that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect.

11. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Scotland and the United Kingdom. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and notify registered users by email. We encourage you to review these terms periodically.
